Getting a Library Card

To check out materials from the library, you must have a Library Card.  Library cards are issued without charge to any person living, working or owning a business or property in the Township. Proof of residence or employment must be shown when registering for a library card.

If you are a new resident, bring any document available that shows your name and address - a driver's license, voter registration card, even a utility bill.

Children residing in the Township and entering kindergarten are eligible for a library card. In addition, any child attending school in the Township is eligible for a library card.

2005 Library Card

We encourage patrons to bring their library card when visiting the library.  Otherwise patrons must present some form of I.D. to borrow materials.  Also, when picking-up reserved material for family members the library card of the person reserving the material should be presented.

A fee of $1.25 is charged to replace a lost library card.

Library cards are valid for 1 year and are automatically renewed, assuming the individual continues to meet eligibility requirements.

Viewing Your Library Account On-Line with My Account

With My Account, you can use the online catalog to:

  • look up,
  • renew, and
  • place holds on materials. (Note: if the catalog shows an item as available and you wish to pick it up today, please call the library at 908-647-2088 so that we can pull the item off the shelf for you immediately.)

When you log in, you will need your Library Card number.  You will also need a PIN.

  • If you have not already obtained a PIN/password at the Library (for the old system), use the last 4 digits of the phone number that you used when you applied for a Library Card.
  • You can change your PIN by following the link to "My Account".
  • If you still have trouble, call the Library 647-2088 ext. "0"

To see what you currently have checked out, go to catalog.mainlib.org, and follow the links to "My Account," then "Review My Account."

LibraryElf

If you would like to get email notification of when your library materials are coming due, we recommend LibraryElf. LibraryElf is not affiliated with our library but they provide a great free service. Here's how to sign up:

2. Enter your email address, create a password and provide your name. You’ll also need to agree to the Terms of Use policy.
3. Enter the first and last name on your library card.
4. When asked to choose a library, select NJ-Morris Automated Information Network (this is our library consortium).
5. Type your library card number and PIN and click Save.
6. You can now add more library cards whose notifications will also be sent to the same email (this is a convenient way for families who use multiple library cards to keep track of what’s due) . When finished, click Continue to Step 3.
7. Select how often you want to be notified, and click Finish to complete registration.
8. A confirmation email will be sent to you, and you must click on the link in the email to activate your account.
