The Library provides regular and large print books, magazines and newspapers, audiobooks, videogames, board games, music, videos and DVDs, reference services (including access to online databases), and library programs for residents. The library currently owns over 57,000 volumes, subscribes to more than 115 magazines, and provides access to more than 40 premium online databases.
Please contact our staff if you have any questions or comments.
Library cardholders may also borrow from other libraries in Morris Automated Information Network (MAIN). MAIN is a county-wide consortium of 36 libraries.
The Library also belongs to the Morris Union Federation (MUF).
All residents of Long Hill Township can borrow materials from four additional libraries: Berkeley Heights, New Providence, Bernardsville and Summit. Just present your Long Hill Library card at any of these libraries and check on out!

Your library card provides access to a world of information! Stop by the library to get one (please bring a current driver's license or utility bill addressed to you), or apply online.
Computer Access at the Library
The library has 17 public workstations with internet access. In addition, the library provides free wireless access, and a scanner that can be used by any member of the public. Access to our resources, including our catalog and databases, is available to all library card holders from their homes via their own internet connections.
Home-Bound, Disabled or Lack Transportation?
We recommend the Libraries by Mail service of the Morris County Library. It is free to qualifying residents of Morris County. The Library will fill your request and mail the titles to you, with a prepaid return envelope.
We sell books, paperbacks, magazines and video tapes that no longer fit the needs of our collection, or that are donated, but are inappropriate for our collection. Prices are modest. These books are displayed on book carts near the display cabinets and in the lobby.
Book Donations
We appreciate your donated books! We will gratefully accept gently used books and magazines (please, no damaged books, textbooks, old medical books or encyclopedias, and only magazines published within the last year). Please drop your donation off at the
circulation desk during library hours. We have limited space to store donated items, so we request that
you bring no more than three bags of donations at a time.
Upon request we will be happy to provide a receipt for your donation (but we are
not permitted to place a dollar value on it). Thank you very much!
You may use our fax machine to send your faxes. We charge $2.00 for the first page and $1.00 for each additional page. Inquire at the desk. No international faxes, except for Canada.
Copies and Printing at the Library
If you wish to print out or make copies at the library, please note that black & white copies are 10 cents per page side and color copies are 50 cents per page side.
Display Cases
The Library has three display cases that may be reserved by members of the public, to display collectibles, artwork and other objects of interest. If you wish to reserve one or more of our display cases, stop by the front desk the next time you are in the library. Due to the popularity of the display cases, it may be several months before an opening is available, so it's best to reserve your spot as early as possible.
The Friends of the Library is a group of volunteers whose purpose is to support the Long Hill Township Public Library. The Friends have, in the past, acquired funds to purchase many computer hardware items for use in the library. Read more about the Friends of the Library.
Become a Library Champion!
Long Hill Township Library invites you to become a Library Champion. Library champions love the library, feel strongly that the library is an important part of the community, and want to be in the know about issues that affect the library. Library champions receive email updates about library issues on a quarterly basis, as well as email alerts when issues arise that affect the library. To become a library champion, you can stop by the library and fill out a Library Champion form, download it, or just send email to director@longhilllibrary.org with your name, email address, street address and "Library Champion" in the subject line. Your support is greatly appreciated!
The Long Hill Township Historical Society maintains its collection of maps, books, photographs, audio tapes, and artifacts, in the Training Room at the Library. Members of the Society are available in the Library every Wednesday between 1:00 PM and 3:00 PM to assist interested community members. A list of the holdings is on file at the Library, but this material is NOT catalogued in the Library's catalog system.
Tax Forms
The Federal Government provides tax forms for distribution at the library. Copies of Federal tax forms may also be downloaded from the Internal Revenue Service.
Beginning with the 2009 tax year, the State of New Jersey Department of Taxation is no longer providing libraries with any paper copies of New Jersey tax forms. We apologize for this inconvenience. Although the State of New Jersey is not providing libraries and post offices with copies of the NJ 1040 form, as a courtesy to Long Hill residents we have three copies of the NJ 1040 instruction booklet that can be checked out for 7 days. Alternatively you can call the New Jersey Department of Taxation at 1-800-323-4400 and request that a form be sent directly to you, or you can download and print your own copy (65 pages) from http://www.state.nj.us/treasury/taxation/forms.shtml. Copies made at the library are 10 cents per page. We apologize for the inconvenience.
Library Policies
We take our obligations about privacy, security and protection of children seriously.
